"Wow... this track was written way back in 2008 or so. I was madly in love with this incredible Montreal singer-songwrtier who was slowly finding his way out of the closet. I was fresh out of a seven-year-long relationship and the idea of being single terrified me. I think this song was written as a way to let this guy know I was the real deal, I was in it for the long term and wasn't interesed in one night stands or what I used to call three-week-long relationships.
Fast-forward to 2020, I'm in Julian Rice's studio and he's just handed me this gorgeous electric guitar to play on and I just started playing this old song of mine I'd all but forgotten. Julien Arsenault's eyes immediately lit up and next thing we knew we were jamming, all three of us, on this old song of mine.
In the last couple of years, I've listened to a lot more pop and indie pop than I ever had. I was interested in playing this song straight - I wanted it to somehow be danceable. Julian Rice had the brilliant idea of inviting Montreal beatmaker Lukas Thienhaus to the recording session and the rest, as they say, is history. The song just came alive.
I hope people listen to this song on repeat. I just absolutely love it to the moon and back!"
