This song was written about a certain infatuation I had for a boss of mine who worked crazy hours and liked to celebrate the end of her shift at the dive bar across the stret from the office. She was also the queen of selfies before that was a thing. I'd walk into work the following day and she'd tell me she'd finished at half-past-midnight or something and gone for drinks and I'd always say: "Call me next time!"
Definitely exploring my love for country music on this song with the talented Guillaume Tessier on banjo and session musician extraordinaire Rob MacDonald on lead guitar. On harmonica, a man who was my best and dearest friend in high school - we hadn't seen each other in nearly 20 years - singer-songwriter Martin Parisien. Having him in the studio was pure magic and he truly adds that driving and yearning sentiment to the recording.
A real highlight on the album, I'm amazed at how this song came together. A special thank you to Kento Kataoka that suggested the song's modulation leading into the harmonica solo. A great idea that helped lift the song.
