This song speaks of two relationships that lead to one more concrete and meaningful relationship. If that seems rather confused or messy – it’s probably because it is. All three relationships were self-destructive, beautiful mistakes. Again, this song felt like something I’d be keeping to myself but F.D. was such a fan of the song (in fact, F.D. learned the words by heart before I even could) and he insisted it was the best thing I’d ever written. Well, I’ll let you be the judge of that. It’s certainly one of my favorite finger-picking pieces and Sebastien’s incredibly subtle bass harmonics (the ideas this guy comes up with sometimes – so unorthodox yet so brilliant) and Kent’s poignant lapsteel guitar all come together to produce one of my absolute favorite tracks on the album.
