Yet another song that was partly inspired by an emotionally charged back-and-forth texting exchange with an old flame. The words “Stop it” came up on my phone and I immediately put pen to paper, in anticipation of what would come next. When I was served the line “it’s not you, it’s me” I thought: No, really – I can’t leave that cliché in the lyrics! But it somehow fit – the ultimate excuse, the ultimate cop-out. Jasmine Bleile, who was kind enough to duet with me on this very special song, gets the verse of reason. I had been in therapy for anxiety problems and my therapist had given me one of her special “homeworks”: “Pay attention to how you talk to yourself…” well, that got me going on that third verse. To have Jasmine’s beautiful voice singing those words is nothing short of a gift. And what can I say about Jean-Philippe’s superb drumming? Coming at the end of the album, the song is an assessment of sorts: you’ve been through all this, you torture yourself with this and that but: Stop it, everybody loves you and you’re so much stronger than you know.
